In Search of a Cave

Yesterday some friends and I spent three hours searching the woods for an illusive cave we knew existed in the vicinity. We searched long and hard, and even found a small cave, but nothing like the one we had set out to find.

This morning in prayer, the Father showed me that our experience yesterday is similar to how we can go along in life. We can live our lives “on our own,” and not rely on Yahweh’s guidance and direction, and end up never quite reaching His ultimate goal for our lives. Or we can choose to trust in Yahweh, and let Him lead us on the paths He’s laid out for us. And rest assured, that if we keep on His path, eventually we’ll make it to the ultimate destination, in His perfect time. The choice is ours, but the decision is life changing.

Next time we go out looking for the cave, I’m going to start off by asking the Father to guide our steps and lead us on the path He’s laid out.

It’s a good lesson to learn.

Trust in יהוה with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Know Him in all your ways, And He makes all your paths straight. — Proverbs 3:5–6

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.

xkcdexplained:

A humorous and quite original observation about the prolific nature of Twitter users, as well as their tendency to put their social network above all else - even personal safety. (The observation being that modern networking technology has made it possible for the news of an earthquake to travel faster than the actual event).
Not satisfied with this witty and fresh commentary - the Author draws it out with some filler in the form of pseudoscience and diagrams. While one would never actually trust the merits of his claims, facts or references, they serve as a playful distraction on the road to the punchline.

I also believe that the independent nature of the Federal Reserve is important and should not be compromised.
— Richard Shelby, U.S. Senator for Alabama

That is a quote from a letter I received from the Senator, today. Of which, I strongly disagree.

The Apple iPad & Andrew Bird

So, I’m watching the first iPad Guided Tour, and I notice the background music sounded rather familiar. Upon listening closer, I find I’m singing the words to an Andrew Bird song, entitled “Fitz and the Dizzyspells”.

I must admit, I simply love how Andrew Bird can mix such random words and instruments into a musical composition. He definitely has some amazing musical talent. But I think my favorite part is how he commonly whistles on his tracks. It’s something you don’t hear too often, and it sounds fantastic.
